DIRTY WATER

As part of the overall upgrade of the water network in Rarotonga with the new intake treatment systems and cleaner water coming into the network system there is also a need to optimise the distribution of this water.

Previously the water network was a sectorised system, this is now being opened up gradually to provide a more balanced water system island wide. This requires the opening of existing branch and sub mains that have been closed off under the old system perhaps for many years, as a result it may introduce some sedimentation into the new water network for a short period.

This sedimentation introduced is not a reflection of the new system but an unexpected result of cleansing during the new configuration of the network and will naturally resolve the issue quickly back to clean water.
